Trend Watch! Floral-inspired shoes

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ character Miranda Priestly sarcastically once said: “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.”

But although they may not be the most avant-garde trend ever (and let’s face it, most fashion trends are at some point repeated), floral prints have definitely been reinvented this Spring / Summer 2013. Clashing prints, bold colours all layered with a 3D effect showcased among the Front-rowers and Showers, especially Moschino and Erdem. Flower power has fully flourished and is here to stay.

Floral inspired dresses and shoes on the Erdem S/S 2013 catwalk collection. Make-up kept minimal and hair slicked back to accentuate the busy floral clothing print.

However, do you dare the full-blown daintiness of bright, textured floral patterned clothes? The Moschino S/S 2013 show teaches us that accessorizing is key to the more subtle floral vibe. Shoes are a perfect way of adding a touch of femininity to your statement style pieces, day and night.

Street-Style

Here at SOLE we are loving these Gola Quota Melly plimsolls (above and below). Comfortable, fashionable, street-style cool. The bright yellow ribbon laces and Gola Wingflash delightfully clash with the floral canvas. Keep it simple and wear with jeans and a plain white tee as shown below.

Party it out

For a twist on the standard block black/colour heels on a night out, opt for something a bit more wild. These Iron Fist wedges (below) are more wild flower than English rose, featuring flowers and skull embellishment (why not?!) and really do freshen up an LBD. If you’re feeling brave on the beach this summer, pair with a black bikini, a gold tribal statement necklace and ripped denim shorts for a sexy day-turns-to-night look.

Country fêtes, folk festivals, picnics in the park

These paisley Floral Desert Boots Exclusive to SOLE (below left) encompass the ‘romantic walk through a meadow on a balmy summer’s day’ vibe (although, the local park on your way to work will do…). Wear yours with a plain summer dress, navy socks and keep make-up fresh and minimal. If you’re thinking practicalities, take a look at this bright version of the iconic Hunter boot. Enough to brighten up the dampest of British festival weather…
