Spotlight on Barbour

Well hello Autumn! With the temperature cooling and the leaves dropping, now is the perfect time to update your footwear and invest in some boots – and Barbour’s brand new collection is just the ticket.

For the ladies, and as part of the Barbour Weather Comfort range, the Rimini boot is crafted from hydrophobic leather and features a weather resistant lining. The Abigail boots are also made from premium leather and boast a beautiful quilted heel detailing. Both of the classic Chelsea style boots also benefit from padded leather lining for supreme comfort.

For the men, choose between the lace up chukka style Readheadboot or the Farsley slip on Chelsea boot. Both are beautifully lined with the signature Barbour tartan print and finished with the iconic branding.

The rise of the clog: Swedish Hasbeens

Designers have been feeling rather nostalgic recently when it comes to footwear. Chelsea boots, buckled biker boots and clogs have been gracing the Autumn/Winter 13 catwalks once again.

Clogs saw their peak in fashion in the 1970s,  originating in Sweden, when they progressed from workers shoes and outdoor slippers, into a Swedish fashion staple.

In keeping with it’s folky heritage, this season the clog has been seen styled with frilly socks and brown, black and maroon hues which complement the town & country style set to explode onto the high street this winter. Get your big knits, floral skirts and tartan out, sharpish!

On a summer’s day in 2006, 300 pairs of clogs, dating back to the 70s, were found in the basement of an old clog factory in a small Swedish village. The clogs were brought back to Stockholm and became the inspiration to the Swedish Hasbeens that have been taking the fashion world by storm ever since.
