Le Coq Sportif: The Lowdown

Today, le coq sportif is one of the world’s most prestigious brands, renowned for its clothing, footwear and sporting equipment. This is the story of a different kind of brand, a story unlike any other. Launched in 1882 in a small factory in Romilly-sur-Seine, France, le coq sportif has evolved and established a uniquely authentic place in the market from over 130 years of experience.

Founded by Emile Camuset who was, above all, a sports fan, le coq sportif began by creating products primarily for sportsmen. This has continued to present the brand with both inspiration and challenge, and meeting those challenges remains at the heart of the product philosophy which sets le coq sportif apart, and has since the brand’s beginning.

The product range has a simple, almost timeless quality which is a fundamental part of its heritage. There is a clear bridge between the simplicity that characterised their first products and the ongoing inventiveness that keeps their new models resolutely modern – this is what makes le coq sportif who they are. So, are you ready for the le coq sportif lowdown?

The first style we’re desperate to showcase is the Flow, which is new for le coq sportif this season. A modern reinterpretation of an iconic 90s sneaker, the rubber insert helps with strike rebound. This urban silhouette, with several heritage accents, is more feminine and comfortable with a fluid mesh sock, monochrome nubuck upper, embossed logo and round laces. With the statement style available in rose cloud, lichen, black and marshmallow, this is set to be a real crowd pleaser. The real question is, which hue is for you?

flowSecond up is the Charline which is an innovative adaptation of le coq sportif’s most iconic tennis shoe, the Arthur Ashe. Designed just for women, this model retains the main shape of its former silhouette with side perforations and a heel cap. Crafted in nubuck, the Charline sneaker has a tone-on-tone sole decorated with a feminine trim, embossed logo and round cotton laces. The colour palette is oh so spring with a vanilla cream, mint green and dusky pink offering. Understated yet seriously stylish? Yes please.
